IT’S GREEN FOR GO IN BUSINESS
It’s never easy running a business – in good as well as tough economic times. That’s why more companies are finding that a ‘Green Business’ campaign is not just cutting their costs but helping the environment.
Hundreds of businesses have taken advantage of free help, advice and grants from the West Sussex Sustainable Business Partnership over the last ten years to cut their costs.
During that time it is estimated that 1,919 tonnes of CO2 has been saved. Businesses are £440,000 better off and 933 tonnes of waste have been diverted from landfill.
JS Humidifiers (pictured bottom left) of Rustington has not only saved £3,470 on its energy bills, it actively promotes recycling within its workforce.
A staggering 13 billion plastic carrier bags a year are given free to UK shoppers, and take years to decay.
But the people of Henfield have said enough is enough. Dozens of the village’s retail outlets are giving out environmentally friendly alternatives instead (pictured below). As a result of the campaign, Henfield hopes to stop using at least half a million plastic bags a year!
