Turning Rubbish into a Resource
There is now a growing consensus that rubbish should be considered as a valuable resource and that the amount we landfill must be reduced.
To extract resources from rubbish various systems exists which either use mechanical, biological or thermal treatments.
We will need to create new treatment facilities in West Sussex which will include one or more of these systems. No decision has yet been made on the type of treatment system or the sites that will be used. All the options are being considered with a view to rewarding a contract in early 2010.
By working together, we will be able to reduce landfill by being leaders in waste prevention and recycling an by turning rubbish into a resource.
